1What is the deadline to enter?
Applications close on the 30th of November 2025.
2Why were we informed late – resulting in a shorter application window?
The 2025 National Media Awards mark the inauguration of the event, due to formalities, the entry
process was finalised at a later date than anticipated. In the coming years, applications will open in
June and close in November.
3Which category should I enter my award into?
Categories are defined in detail in the Entry Guide, download and read through to ensure successful
entry.
4Can I submit the same work into multiple categories?
Yes. You can submit the same project in up to three categories. Judges will not move projects
between categories.
5Are students and GITs allowed to submit work for consideration?
No, not at this point in time.
6I publish/broadcast news about and for Eswatini, but my publication isn’t registered or officially recognized in Eswatini, am I eligible to enter?
According to the eligibility criteria, all entrants must be entities/organisations registered and
recognised in Eswatini. Individual entrants must be of Eswatini nationality, residing and practising
within Eswatini, and registered members or ESNAJ and/or Editors Forum.
7Why are there no Online Journalism Categories?
The National Media Awards 2025 is the inaugural event. In the near future, the National Media
Awards will feature an extensive line-up of categories to accommodate all storytellers.
8Is there an entry fee?
No. Entry into the 2025 National Media Awards is free.
9Who are the judges?
The judging panel consists of respected professionals from across Eswatini’s media and
communication sectors. Their identities will be announced closer to the judging phase to ensure
transparency and impartiality.
10How will entries be judged?
Entries will be evaluated based on criteria such as originality, impact, accuracy, ethical standards,
creativity, and alignment with professional journalistic values. Each category has specific judging
criteria outlined in the Entry Guide.
11When will finalists and winners be announced?
Finalists will be announced during the NMA Gala Dinner on the 12th of December 2025.
12Can collaborative projects be submitted?
Yes. Collaborative projects can be submitted, provided all contributors are clearly acknowledged.
13What happens if I miss the deadline?
Unfortunately, late submissions cannot be accepted. All entries must be received by midnight on the
30th of November 2025.
14Will feedback be provided to entrants?
Due to the volume of entries, individual feedback cannot be guaranteed.
15What benefits do winners receive?
Winners will receive recognition at the National Media Awards Gala Dinner, a trophy and/or
certificate of excellence, and inclusion in the official winners’ roll published on the NMA website and
press releases.
